Progress

What I saw today: an astonishingly complex work in progress, and then another one.

Cupcakes

I took the day off today and made cupcakes. I should do this more often.

Chimney Sky

I've been distracted lately while the wonderful Heidi has held true to the philosophy that started us out in the first place. Here are some of the sort of things I like to look at and hope she will enjoy.

Pharaoh

Painted Stones

Green On Green

After the ballgame

Another great game today and, after another downpour, a beautiful blue sky. And my beloved scorecard vendor called me "honey" today which put a spring in my soggy step.

Gracie on her new favourite place: the upstairs railing

Ninety percent of the photos I take of Gracie are blurry and yet somehow the blurry ones seem to capture who she is better than the well-focused ones.

Sunshine at the Park and Torrents of Rain on the Way Home

We knew something was up when, despite the cloudless blue skies, the grounds crew were priming the field tarp. It was a fantastic game, the rain was pretty amazing and it's perfectly sunny now.

Another introduction to office staff member: Claude Monet

It was brought to my attention that in my previous posting about my office staff I had neglected to include the Claude Monet finger puppet. So here is Claude performing his duties as keeper of the assemblage of like objects related to a certain centerfielder. He insists, as do I, that it is not a "shrine."

Fireworks!

The Windsor Detroit Fireworks have a long tradition of wowing people on both sides of the border. Last night I realized I have lots of fireworks questions. I found many answers here and here.

"Ron and fr": the inaugural button

Last week at the button making fest, someone made me this neat-o Ron Leary button. Ron tells me this is probably the first Ron Leary pin ever made. I saw him last night at Phog with Christina Martin. Both of them are otherworldly good. If you've not heard them, get thee to their websites anon. Go here. And here. Buy a CD or two, see them live, and tell someone else to do the same. Really.

I heard the doughnut call my name: still life with junk food

As I succumbed to the siren call of the flower-shaped strawberry sprinkle doughnut, my favourite server said "Somebody's going to by hy-per this morning!"

Happy Birthday Dad!

This morning I headed out early do so some planting and weeding and was greeted by a profusion of pink blooms everywhere. I took a photo of everything that was pink and blooming and there are probably 20 things. Here is a closeup of one of the cabbage rose blooms; if I could attach a scent to this blog I would. Imagine a sweet intense rose scent with undertones of pepper.

Button making for the NCRC

Tonight we gathered at a fine local establishment, to make conference buttons. There are lots of great events going on; check them out if you're in the area.

Tonight at the Fox!

* and yup, that's the view from the 3rd row.

By the River

From the other day by the river. There's something about that urban-pastoral-ruin look that works.
